For the starting line, you'll notice the colors on your boosters change to white if you hold onto it a while. The goal is to time acceleration so the color changes just as the start signal happens.

This game has all of the cars & tracks from the SNES original game. You could play that on Switch online if you want to practice (and get a preview for courses that will be added later on)
Fun F-Zero Lore: Between this game and X they reduced the maximum amount of racers on the track to 30 because there was a major accident that happened between games. People usually blame Pico, the driver of the Wild Goose.
